Child & Adolescent Autism Assessment (Identification) Timeline
We understand how important it is to get timely answers and support. Our assessment process is carefully structured to be both thorough and efficient.
Step 1: Intake & Background Review
📅 Within 1–2 weeks of booking
You’ll be invited to complete intake forms and share any previous reports or school information. This helps us understand your child’s needs from the outset.
Step 2: Developmental History & Parent Interview
📅 Scheduled within 1–3 weeks
A detailed developmental interview is carried out via secure video call with parents or caregivers. This typically includes the Autism Diagnostic Interview–Revised (ADI-R) and forms the foundation of the diagnostic process.
Step 3: In Person Session
📅 Scheduled within 2–5 weeks
Your child will attend an in-person session for structured, play-based assessment using the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule–Second Edition (ADOS-2). This is usually conducted with two professionals (e.g., psychologist and SLT).
Where appropriate, a cognitive assessment (e.g., WISC-V or SB-5) may also be included.
Step 4: Feedback Session
📅 1–2 weeks after final assessment session
We will meet with you via video call to share the findings, answer your questions, and provide guidance on next steps.
Step 5: Report Delivery
📄 Delivered 2–3 weeks after the final assessment
You will receive a comprehensive, written report with diagnostic conclusions and personalised recommendations for home, school, and relevant services.
⏳ Total Timeframe:
Most assessments are completed within 5–8 weeks from the initial consultation, depending on availability and assessment complexity.
If you require the assessment to be completed by a particular date (e.g., for school applications or service deadlines), please let us know at the time of booking so we can do our best to accommodate.
