More than a diagnosis, this is a process grounded in care, clinical integrity and professional recognition

Choosing a psychological assessment is a significant step, emotionally, practically and financially

But not all assessments are created equal.

In an unregulated landscape, it's important to know who is assessing you or your child, how psychological assessments are conducted, and whether the resulting report will truly support access to services and understanding.

At Be Kind Psychology, we provide comprehensive, compassionate, and professionally recognised psychological assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. Every assessment is carried out with care, precision, and integrity, by a fully qualified clinician.

Chartered and Clinically Qualified Psychological Assessors

In Ireland, autism and ADHD assessments are currently unregulated. This means any clinic can offer assessments, regardless of the qualifications of their staff or the tools they use.

Many clinics quote PSI membership numbers or state that their team is “registered”, but this does not mean that the clinician is Chartered or clinically qualified to diagnose neurodevelopmental conditions. In some cases, psychological assessments are carried out by students, graduates, or assistants with no clinical accreditation.

As a result, families may receive reports that:

  • Are not accepted by the HSE or Department of Education

  • Are based on informal interviews or checklists, not gold-standard tools

  • Lack the credibility to support access to supports like SNA, ASD units, or Disability Allowance

  • Require a repeat assessment with a qualified provider

What Sets Up Apart

  • A woman (Jill) with short wavy brown hair, wearing glasses, a purple blouse with a bow at the neck, and smiling in front of a plain white background.

    1. Fully Qualified & Chartered

All assessments are carried out by Dr. Jill Pollard, a Senior Chartered Clinical Psychologist (PSI chartered member M10338C) with 13 years’ specialist experience.

Chartered status with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) reflects advanced doctoral training, supervised clinical practice, and ongoing ethical oversight.

You can trust that your assessment will be:

    - Conducted ethically and competently

    - Based on best-practice tools

    - Recognised by the HSE, Department of Education, and schools

We do not use assistants or unqualified staff to carry out assessments or write reports.

    2. Gold-Standard Tools, Not Checklists

We use internationally validated tools, including:

    ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule)

ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised)

    Vineland-3, WISC-V, SB-5, and others

Assessments are structured, evidence-based, and clinically defensible — not based on informal impressions or checklists.

    3. Individualised, High-Quality Reports

At Be Kind Psychology, every report is unique. We do not use generic templates or “copy and paste” recommendations. Unfortunately, many clinics produce nearly identical reports for different clients, which weakens their credibility and limits their usefulness.

In contrast, Dr. Pollard personally writes each report, based on:

    - Your child’s or your unique strengths and needs

    - Structured observations and standardised tools

    - Detailed developmental, cognitive, and adaptive profiles

    - Real-world, practical recommendations for home, school, or work

This is not a tick-box exercise , it’s a deep, thoughtful process, and your report will reflect that.

  • Two people sitting at a white table engaged in a conversation. One person has their hands clasped on the table, wearing a light blue sweater with floral embroidery. The other person, whose head is slightly out of focus, is wearing glasses and a dark top. A silver laptop and a pink mug are also on the table, and there is a white wall and a green plant in the background.

    4. Affirming, Rigorous Adult Assessments (Identifications)

Many adults come to us seeking answers after years of feeling misunderstood or “different.”

    We offer:

    - Clear, structured autism and ADHD assessments for adults

    - Neuroaffirmative, respectful, and trauma-informed processes

    - Optional input from someone who knew you in childhood (if available)

    - Meaningful reports to support self-understanding, accommodations, or workplace needs

    5. All-Inclusive, Purposeful Assessments (Identifications), No Hidden Extras

Our autism assessments are comprehensive and all-inclusive. You will not be charged extra for components like cognitive assessments, additional observations, or co-assessor input if they are clinically indicated.

At the same time, we do not assess for the sake of it.

    Everything we do is:

    - Clinically meaningful

    - Evidence-based

    - Ethically guided

You’ll never be charged extra mid-process, and you’ll never be assessed beyond what is necessary. Our approach is honest, thoughtful, and focused on what truly matters.

This is More Than a Diagnosis; it’s a Foundation for Support
