Getting Ready for Your Video Call with Us

As part of your autism or ADHD assessment, some sessions will take place via secure video call using Zoom

These may include developmental history interviews, diagnostic interviews (such as the ADI-R), or feedback sessions. Please review the information below to help you feel prepared and to ensure a smooth experience.

1. You’ll Receive a Secure Zoom Link

  • Your Zoom link will be sent by email ahead of your scheduled appointment.

  • If you don’t see it, please check your spam/junk folder.

  • If it hasn’t arrived within 24 hours of your appointment, contact us at info@bekindpsychology.ie

2. Check if you Need to Download Zoom

  • We recommend checking in advance if you need to download Zoom.

  • When you click the link we send you, you may be prompted to:

    • Open in the Zoom app (recommended - smoother video and sound)

    • Join via your web browser (only works on some devices and has limited features)

  • Please note: Some users will need to download the Zoom app before joining - especially on mobile devices or if using Zoom for the first time.

  • If using a phone or tablet, you must download the free Zoom app in advance.

3. Choose a Quiet, Private Space

  • Find a quiet, comfortable space where you won’t be interrupted.

  • Mute notifications on your phone or device.

  • For parent interviews, please ensure your child is not present unless requested.

4. Use a Device with a Camera and Microphone

  • A laptop, desktop, or tablet is ideal.

  • Ensure your camera and microphone are working and switched on.

  • Close other apps or tabs to prevent connection problems.

5. Check Your Internet Connection

  • Stay close to your Wi-Fi router.

  • Avoid streaming or large downloads during your session.

  • If possible, have a backup device on hand just in case.

6. Join a Few Minutes Early

  • You’ll enter a virtual “waiting room” and be admitted at your appointment time.

  • Have any notes or questions ready.

  • Sessions typically last 60–90 minutes, depending on the type.

7. Confidentiality & Privacy

  • Your video call is confidential, secure, and GDPR-compliant.

  • Sessions are not recorded unless you give explicit written consent (e.g., for ADOS scoring).
