Terms of Service
By booking an assessment or consultation with Be Kind Psychology, you agree to the terms outlined below. These terms are designed to ensure clarity, transparency, and consistency, and to outline what you can expect from our service.
1. Scope of Service
Be Kind Psychology provides specialist psychological assessments for children, adolescents, and adults, including:
Autism and ADHD diagnostic assessments (identification)
Educational and cognitive assessments
Developmental profiling
Parent consultations and time-limited support
Be Kind Psychology does not provide long-term psychotherapy, crisis intervention, or emergency mental health services. If urgent or ongoing mental health support is required, clients are advised to contact their GP or local HSE mental health services.
2. Autism Diagnostic Assessments - What’s Included
Autism assessments provided by Be Kind Psychology are comprehensive diagnostic evaluations designed to determine whether an individual meets criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Depending on clinical need, assessments may include:
A detailed developmental history interview
Structured diagnostic interviews (e.g. ADI-R)
Direct observation using gold-standard tools (e.g. ADOS-2)
Cognitive or developmental assessment where clinically indicated
A feedback session and a comprehensive written report
These assessments are diagnostic in nature and do not constitute a full multidisciplinary evaluation. They do not include full Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) or Occupational Therapy (OT) assessments, which may be arranged separately with CORU-registered professionals if required.
3. School-Based Information
Be Kind Psychology does not routinely conduct school observations, as direct observation in the school setting is not required to diagnose Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Information about school functioning is instead gathered through:
Standardised teacher questionnaires (e.g. Vineland-3)
School reports or SENO documentation
Direct liaison with school staff where clinically indicated
This approach is evidence-based, consistent with best-practice guidelines, and reports are accepted by the HSE, Department of Education, and relevant support services.
4. Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Involvement
In some cases, a Speech and Language Therapist may observe part of the assessment process (e.g. ADOS-2) to support diagnostic formulation.
Please note:
This observation is for diagnostic purposes only
It does not constitute a full SLT assessment
No separate SLT report is provided unless a full SLT assessment is commissioned independently
5. Fees and Payment
All assessments and consultations are subject to the following payment terms:
Fees are fixed, apply per individual, and are non-negotiable
A €500 booking deposit is required to secure assessment appointments and forms part of the total assessment fee
The booking deposit is non-refundable, reflecting the reservation of specialist clinical time and preparatory work
Two invoices are issued at booking: one for the deposit and one for the remaining balance
The remaining balance must be paid in full no later than two weeks before the assessment begins
Assessment work will not commence until payment has been received in full
Payment plans and instalment arrangements are not offered
Payment is accepted via Stripe (card or bank transfer). Full details are available in the Fees and Payment Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
6. Cancellations and Rescheduling
Assessment appointments involve significant preparation and the allocation of specialist clinical time.
Cancellations
Where an assessment is cancelled by the client, fees paid are non-refundable.
Illness or Unforeseen Circumstances
In cases of acute illness or other unforeseen circumstances, the assessment will be rescheduled. Fees paid remain valid for the rescheduled appointment and are not refundable.
Once any part of the assessment process has commenced (including interviews, record review, scoring, or testing), fees are non-refundable.
Be Kind Psychology reserves the right to reschedule or cancel appointments due to clinician illness, availability, or where it becomes clinically inappropriate to proceed.
7. Confidentiality and Data Protection (GDPR)
Be Kind Psychology complies fully with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Psychological Society of Ireland Code of Ethics.
All clinical data is:
Collected and used solely for clinical and diagnostic purposes
Stored securely using encrypted, password-protected systems
Accessed only by clinicians involved in the assessment
Not shared without written consent, except where required by law or safeguarding obligations
Clients may request access to their records in line with GDPR legislation.
8. Video Recording of ADOS-2 (Where Applicable)
In some cases, ADOS-2 sessions may be video recorded to support scoring accuracy and multidisciplinary diagnostic formulation.
Any recordings:
Are stored securely and encrypted
Are accessible only to clinicians directly involved
Are permanently deleted once scoring and reporting are complete
Separate written consent will be obtained prior to any recording.
9. Right to Decline or Discontinue Service
Be Kind Psychology reserves the right to decline or discontinue an assessment where:
The service is no longer clinically appropriate or ethical
Significant undisclosed risk factors emerge
There is abusive, dishonest, or non-cooperative behaviour
A conflict of interest is identified
Where services are discontinued, any refund will reflect work completed to date and the non-refundable booking deposit.
10. Reports and Use
Reports provided by Be Kind Psychology:
Are prepared to a high professional standard
Are suitable for submission to schools, the HSE, and other services
Reflect information available at the time of assessment
While reports are widely accepted, Be Kind Psychology cannot guarantee decisions made by third-party agencies.
