Autism Assessment (Identification) Steps
-
Step One
Go to Booking Page and Purchase the Child and Adolescent Autism Assessment. Complete the Consent Form link that’s sent.
-
Step Two
Our admin team will contact you with your first appointment to meet with Dr. Jill Pollard. You will be given appointments for the two assessment appointments.
-
Step Three
Parents or caregivers take part in a structured interview called the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R) online via a secure video call. This standardised tool helps the psychologist gain a detailed understanding of your child’s development, communication, and behaviour based on recognised diagnostic criteria. The interview explores your child’s background and behavioural history, usually takes around two hours, and can be completed online via secure video call.
-
Step Four
The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) is a play- and conversation-based assessment used to observe social communication, interaction, and behaviours linked to autism. It is completed in person by a trained clinician.
-
Step Five
Once all assessments are complete, we will write a comprehensive final report. This detailed document outlines the assessments completed, observations made, and — where appropriate — a diagnosis. Our reports are written to meet HSE standards, reflecting the experience of our team in public health settings. This ensures you have the necessary documentation to engage with services such as the HSE or your Special Educational Needs Organiser (SENO).
-
Step Six
After your assessment is complete, we will arrange an online feedback session to go through the results. During this session, we will explain the findings in clear, accessible language, discuss any diagnoses (if applicable), and explore personalised recommendations. These may include supports for home, school, or work, as well as guidance on services and next steps. This session is designed to ensure you feel informed, supported, and confident moving forward.
-
Step Seven
Following the feedback session, you will receive a comprehensive written report by email. This report includes a summary of the assessments completed, clinical observations, and clear, individualised recommendations to guide next steps and access appropriate supports.
