Terms of Service

By booking an assessment or consultation with Be Kind Psychology, you agree to the terms outlined below. These terms ensure transparency, protect your rights, and outline what you can expect from our service.

1. Scope of Service

Be Kind Psychology provides specialist psychological assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. These include:

  • Autism and ADHD diagnostic assessments (identification)

  • Educational and cognitive assessments

  • Developmental profiling

  • Parent consultations and individual support packages

We also offer short-term intervention and parenting support, but we do not provide long-term therapy or crisis mental health services. If you require urgent care, or ongoing support, please contact your GP or local HSE mental health service.

2. Autism Diagnostic Assessments - What’s Included

Autism assessments provided by Be Kind Psychology are comprehensive diagnostic evaluations designed to determine whether an individual meets criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder.

These assessments include:

  • A detailed developmental history interview

  • Structured diagnostic interviews (e.g., ADI-R)

  • Direct observation using gold-standard tools (e.g., ADOS-2)

  • Cognitive or developmental assessment if clinically indicated

  • Feedback session and a personalised, comprehensive report

Please note: This is a diagnostic assessment, not a full multidisciplinary evaluation. It does not include a full Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) or Occupational Therapy (OT) assessment. These are separate services and can be arranged independently with CORU-registered professionals.

School Observations

At Be Kind Psychology, our autism assessments are designed to be comprehensive, evidence-based, and tailored to each child’s individual profile. We do not routinely carry out school visits, as direct observation in the school environment is not required to diagnose Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Instead, we gather detailed information about your child’s functioning at school using:

  • Standardised teacher questionnaires (e.g., Vineland-3)

  • School reports or SENO documentation

  • Optional contact with the teacher where clinically indicated

This approach allows us to understand your child’s needs across settings, while minimising disruption to their school day. Our assessments meet best-practice guidelines and are accepted by the HSE, Department of Education, and support services.

If there are specific concerns about differences between home and school presentation, we are happy to liaise directly with school staff to ensure a holistic view of your child’s profile.

3. SLT Involvement - Clarification

In some cases, an SLT may observe part of the assessment (e.g., the ADOS-2) to inform diagnostic formulation. This supports a best-practice, multidisciplinary approach.

However:

  • This observation is for diagnostic purposes only

  • It does not replace or constitute a full SLT assessment

  • No separate SLT report will be issued unless a full SLT assessment is commissioned

4. Fees & Payment

All assessments are subject to the following payment terms:

  • Full payment is required in advance to confirm a booking. Find out more here.

  • Payment is accepted via secure online checkout using Stripe (credit/debit card or Apple Pay)

  • Klarna is available for eligible clients to pay in instalments

  • All assessment fees are all-inclusive. If additional components such as cognitive assessments or multidisciplinary input are clinically required, they will be included at no extra cost

  • No hidden fees apply

  • Your payment secures your place in our schedule and allows us to begin organising your assessment. We aim to begin all assessments within 4 to 8 weeks of payment. If we are unable to offer an appointment within this timeframe, and no mutually suitable alternative is agreed, you will be offered a full refund.

  • If you are working toward a specific deadline (e.g., school placement or service access), please let us know at the time of booking and we will advise whether we can meet your timeframe before confirming the assessment.

5. Cancellations & Refunds

  • We understand that there are times when children and adults are sick and might need to cancel an appointment. We would ask that you let us know as soon as possible and we will reschedule your appointment.

  • Cancellations of services made more than 48 hours in advance may be eligible for a partial refund

  • Cancellations of services made less than 48 hours before a scheduled session may be non-refundable

  • Once any component of the assessment has been completed (e.g., developmental interview, ADOS), fees are non-refundable

  • If an assessment is cancelled after work has commenced, charges will apply for work completed to date

  • Refunds are not provided once a report is in preparation or has been delivered

Be Kind Psychology reserves the right to reschedule or cancel appointments due to illness, clinician availability, or if the assessment is no longer clinically appropriate.

If, after the initial consultation, we determine that the requested assessment is not clinically appropriate to proceed, only the portion of the fee related to work completed to date will be retained (typically €300–€500), and the remaining balance will be refunded.

6. Confidentiality & Data Protection (GDPR)

We adhere to General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Psychological Society of Ireland Code of Ethics.

All data is:

  • Collected and used only for clinical and diagnostic purposes

  • Stored securely using encrypted, password-protected systems

  • Accessed only by the clinicians involved in your assessment

  • Never shared without your explicit, written consent (except where required by law or safeguarding concerns)

You may request access to your file or ask for your data to be deleted at any time, in line with data protection legislation.

7. Video Recording of ADOS (If Applicable)

In some cases, your child’s ADOS-2 session may be video recorded to support:

  • Scoring accuracy

  • Review by another team member (e.g., SLT)

  • Multidisciplinary diagnostic formulation

These recordings are:

  • Stored securely, encrypted, and password-protected

  • Only accessible to clinicians directly involved in the assessment

  • Permanently deleted once scoring and report writing are complete

Separate written consent will be obtained prior to any recording.

8. Right to Decline or Withdraw Service

Be Kind Psychology reserves the right to decline or discontinue an assessment if:

  • The service is no longer clinically appropriate or ethical to continue

  • Significant undisclosed history or risk factors emerge

  • The client engages in abusive, dishonest, or non-cooperative behaviour

  • A conflict of interest is identified

In such cases, you will be notified and a refund (full or partial) may be issued depending on how much of the assessment has been completed.

9. Report Use & Acceptance

Reports provided by Be Kind Psychology:

  • Are prepared to the highest professional standards

  • Are suitable for submission to the HSE, Department of Education, schools, and other support services

  • Are based on information available at the time of assessment

Please note: While our reports are widely accepted, we cannot guarantee how third-party agencies will respond to any given recommendation.
