Adult Autism Assessment (Identification) Steps
-
Step One
Go to the Booking page and complete and purchase the Adult Autism Assessment.
-
Step Two
Our admin team will contact you to arrange your assessment (identification).
As part of the adult autism assessment (identification), you will be asked to complete self-report questionnaires. These standardised tools explore areas such as social communication, sensory processing, routines, and identity. They provide valuable insight into your experiences and help guide the diagnostic process. All responses are treated confidentially and are considered alongside clinical interviews and observational assessments to build a full picture of your neurodevelopmental profile.
-
Step Three
As part of the adult autism assessment (identification), you will take part in a structured clinical interview with a psychologist online via a secure video call. This conversation explores your developmental history, sensory experiences, communication style, routines, relationships, and how you experience the world.
If possible, we may also invite a parent, partner, or someone who knows you well to provide additional background. However, the assessment can still proceed if this is not available.
The interview helps us build a full picture of your strengths, challenges, and neurodevelopmental profile. It can be conducted online via secure video call. All discussions are respectful, confidential, and neuroaffirmative — with the aim of understanding you, not pathologising you.
-
Step Four
As part of the adult autism assessment (identification), we may include an adapted version of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS). This is a structured, conversational assessment carried out via video call. It explores social communication, interaction, and patterns of behaviour in a natural, informal way. The online ADOS is conducted by a trained clinician and forms one part of the overall diagnostic process.
-
Step Five
Following your assessment (identification), your psychologist will carefully review all the information gathered — including interviews, questionnaires, and observational assessments. They will then compile a comprehensive report that accurately reflects your experiences, developmental history, and neurodivergent profile. The report is written with thoughtfulness and clinical rigour, ensuring it is clear, respectful, and suitable for use in accessing supports or accommodations.
-
Step Six
After your assessment (identification) is complete, we will arrange an online feedback session to go through the results. This is a supportive space to discuss the findings, ask questions, and understand the diagnostic outcome. We’ll also talk through personalised recommendations and next steps. The session is confidential, collaborative, and designed to help you feel informed and validated.
-
Step Seven
After your feedback session, you will receive a detailed diagnostic report by email. This professional report includes:
A summary of the full assessment process
Information from clinical interviews, self-report measures, and (if completed) the ADOS
A clear statement regarding diagnosis, based on DSM-5 criteria
Insight into your strengths, neurodivergent traits, and support needs
Tailored recommendations for work, education, daily life, or accessing relevant supports
This report is written to a high standard and can be used to support workplace accommodations, college supports, or referrals for additional services.
